Tropical Storm Nicholas may be gone, but Corpus Christi is in for more rain

Don’t put that umbrella away just yet.

Tropical Storm Nicholas has left the Corpus Christi area, but more rain and thunderstorms are expected throughout the week.

The storm, which made landfall as a Category 1 Hurricane Monday night, will likely be downgraded to a tropical depression by Wednesday morning as it continues traveling northeast.

While Wednesday is forecast to be sunny and clear, Thursday will bring showers and thunderstorms that will continue into next week, according to the National Weather Service Corpus Christi.

Thursday will be mostly sunny with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. The high will be near 93 and the low around 75.

The chance of rain continues on Friday with a high near 94 and low near 75. 

There will be a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms on Saturday, Sunday and Monday with highs near 93 and lows near 75.

The area is expected to receive between 4 and 8 inches of rain by Thursday morning. 

Corpus Christi saw up to 3 inches of rain by 10 a.m. on Monday.
